Computer Set Up

Do you think your computer is ready to use right out of the box?

High Tech House Calls spends at least 4 hours setting up your computer for your use. Usually this set up is done at our labs. Once the computer has been prepared as much as it can, the process continues at your home or small business.

Here is a example of the tasks that are completed for your new computer:

  • Install Operating System, Office Products, Adobe Reader and Player, Java and Antivirus solution.
  • Install Malware removal tool, better Disk Defragmentation Software, Registry Correction Software.
  • Install alternate internet browsers such as Google Chrome and/or Mozilla Firefox (if so desired).
  • Remove bloat ware pre-installed by computer manufacturer.
  • Apply all operating system, hardware driver and office product patches.
  • Install printer software.
  • Add computer to a Workgroup or HomeGroup for file sharing (if so desired).
  • Tune Computer for Optimized Performance.
  • Create email accounts.
  • Migrate data and email from old system to new.
  • Connect system to your home internet network (wired or wireless).
  • Install customer specified software.
  • Hands on question and answer session at your home on operation of your new computer.
  • Includes Organize Computer Software Service at no extra charge!

If your computer is a desktop/workstation computer and is to be recycled*: The "old" hard drive can be installed in the "new" computer. This means all your "old" data will be accessible and you can use the "old" hard drive as additional personal data storage for your "new" computer. Removing your "old" hard drive also allows you to recycle your "old" computer without worrying about exposing your personal data.

If your computer is a laptop computer and is to be recycled: Unfortunately, your "old" hard drive cannot be installed in your laptop, but removing your "old" hard drive allows you to recycle your "old" laptop without worrying about exposing your personal data. For your convenience, High Tech House Calls does have equipment that can "read' your "old" hard drive without it being installed in a laptop.

Laptop hard drives cannot be installed in desktop/workstation computers and vice versa.

*  Successful installation your "old" hard drive assumes compatibility  with your "new" computer. Additional charges for cables may apply.
